(Ignore my dirty bathroom mirror.)
((I had to skip hair AND makeup today to take this picture and upload it onto my ancient laptop before work. You're welcome.))
(((Yes, that is a hair band wrapped around my pants.)))
One trimester down, two more to go. Let's pause for a moment and reflect on the highs and lows of the last 3 months:
- never threw up (high)
- exhaustion (low)
- did I mention EXHAUSTION?!?
- Unisom got rid of nausea (high)
- disappearing from life for about 4 weeks because I was tired, sick, and depressed (low)
- ONLY GAINING TWO POUNDS!
That's right! I ended the 1st trimester with a total 2 lbs weight gain. Don't ask me how I did it (considering I pounded down bean burritos and Sheetz breakfast sandwiches) but I am thankful. I was scared to death that I was going to gain way too much.
Before anyone slams me for worrying about weight while preggers: Get real. We ALL worry about our weight! Every single pregnancy book, magazine, and internet site jams the "appropriate" weight gain down our throats. If I don't gain enough, I'm a selfish pregorexic. If I gain too much, I'm a giant McFatty.
I'm still wearing my normal clothes--with the help of a Bella Band or a hair band. The Bella Band is irritating me because it refuses to stay put. It's always sliding up and rolling into a ball around my waist, and by the end of the day I want to rip it off and throw it across the room. Right now, the $0.25 hair band is working better than the $25 Bella Band.
As you can see in the picture, my stomach is puffy and generally inflamed with anger towards that uppity thing called a uterus. It bloats up into a horrific mess at night, and then it shrinks back down. One of these days, it's going to bloat and stay that way--and I'll have to move into the maternity pants. (Right now I only use them on really bad days.)
My energy is back, the nausea is gone, and I'm feeling great! I'm going to ride this out for as long as it lasts.

Yay! How exciting. I can still remember the first time I noticed my little pregnant tummy- I was so excited and couldn't stop touching it. That only happened the first time, all susequent pregnancies I couldn't notice under all the saggy flabby stuff! ;0) Enjoy it!
Congrats on making it to the 2nd trimester. I just hit the 3rd, and my energy is gone again. Hope you continue to feel well.
Congrats on reaching the safety zone!
I'm with you on the Bella Band. I bought one of those and it moved around so much I never used it. Next time around I'm taking the Jaci plan.
Congrats! Yay on the little weight gain. I wish I could say I've gained only small amounts this time around, haha but oh, no I'd be in the McFatty category, I'm sure ;)
Yay for only 2 lbs! Ummm...yeah, I fell into the McFatty category with my pregnancy. Mmmmm...hamburgers! The only stupid thing that didn't give me heartburn.
Bella Bands always gave me hell and I'd end up stripping them off midway through the day in the ladies restroom. Funny thing is...that's the same thing I did two weeks ago with panty hose.
You're my favorite person today for not doing your hair or make-up! Rock-on!!!
WOW! Beautiful!
I am SOOOOOO happy for you!
I just realized that October is over, (should have taken a hint when the spooks and kooks showed up on my doorstep demanding candy!). But what I'm TRYING to say is "Did you decide not to renew your wedding vows?"

I just stumbled on your blog and I SERIOUSLY could have written that post!! I am 14 weeks today and my 1st trimester sounds exactly like yours - even the 2 pounds!
Congrats on hitting the 2nd trimester mark!! I will be checking your blog regularly now since we are due around the same time - haha :)
Yay you -- go second trimester! I never heard of the Belly Band, so I was stuck with the ponytailers... but they always worked pretty well for me. Enjoy your pregnancy!
Congrats on kicking ass. THose damn bella bands ALWAYS moved, and would end up being a bunched up linty bastard of material that I just wanted to toss. BUT it kept my normal pants on longer.
Glad your feeling better!

I never liked the Bella Band. It always annoyed me and my bum looked saggy when my pants were unbuttoned. But you should check out Belly Ups. I couldnt live without them!
But won't it be exciting when your belly and boobs meet? Hello, old friends!
Oh my gosh, I am 13 weeks now and started taking Unisom last week and I want to kiss it. It is the best thing ever because now I don't talk to the toilet four times a day. That is great about your weight gain, sounds healthy!
